Let's look at the Covid-19 numbers.
We'll look at them in two ways. One, infected and deceased based on Covid-19 population that was tested, and two, infected and deceased based upon the entire US population as a whole.
Covid-19 results based on testing group population
Only 9% of the US population has been tested for Covid-19. Out of those 30 million, 2.5 million, or 8% of the tested population, tested positive for Covid-19. Out of the 2.5 million who tested positive, 125,000 have died, which is 5% of those who tested positive.
Covid-19 results based on the entire US population
As above, 9% have been tested. less than 1% have tested positive and of those, four tenth of one percent, or .04% have died.
In comparison with the annual Flu in the United States, Covid-19 is 4 times more deadly than the Flu. The Flu has a death rate of .01%, or on tenth of one percent annually.
In Layman's Terms
What this means, the population as a whole, you have less than a 1% chance of being tested positive and even less than that for dying from the virus.
That is how things stand today, based on only having tested 9% of the population.
However, to put that into perspective, if the current trend and testing results stay true, eventually we could have 8% of the entire population infected, which would be around 26 million and if the rate of death against the infection rate stays the same, at 5%, we could see a total of 1.3 million deceased.
Facts matter, and these are facts as of today.
Tomorrow will be different for sure, we just don't know if it will go up or if it will go down.
Time will tell. Until then, I recommend you stay vigilant, go about your business, but keep yourself safe.
