CHOP Has Failed Miserably - But Will Anyone Take Notice?

After weeks and weeks of wall to wall coverage of the Seattle CHOP/CHAZ or whatever it was called zone, now that it has been taken down, the media is 100% silent.  Almost no coverage exists of the so called "Autonomous Zone" being dismantled and arrests being made the past few days.  Yet that is exactly what has happened.

This liberal cooked up "Utopia" of a socialist/communist enclave has failed miserably as the zone decayed into a wild west, "Shoot first, ask questions later...." war zone.  It only took multiple shootings and several dead before Seattle mayor (What's her name) signed an emergency order to have the police, the FBI and public works clear out the area.

Fun fact, the average number of CHOP residents? Wait for it, 200 people or less.  Yep, once again, the media made a mountain out of a mole hill.

The rest of the people were simply just outside visitors and gawking onlookers who came on a daily basis to see what CHOP was all about.  But, even that number had been steadily declining since the shootings started back on June 21st.

Now, that the facts about CHOP are in, one would think that the remaining cities around the country who had been thinking about defunding their police departments would have a new and better understanding and appreciation on how that would lead to a "State of CHOP" in their community.  Knowing that this will ultimate fail with many of their citizen being shot or killed, just as it happened in the failed social experiment in Seattle.

You would think.  But no, many cities are still defunding or considering defunding their police departments and to replace them with liberal arts degree'd social justice warriors.

Because nothing will defuse a tense domestic violence situation than a liberal snowflake with a degree in underwater basket weaving singing "Kumbaya...." and expecting the drunk, pistol waving spouse to go along with that and surrender.  Many real police officers can attest from experience that this is not what is going to happen.  Not by a long shot.

But, one can always hope.

Case in point, Atlanta City Council narrowly approved the current police budget a few weeks back.

Now there are renewed calls to move that approved budget away from the police.  Keep in mind, Atlanta police were already underfunded with Atlanta not being able to pay prior overtime and having to resort to forcing officers to take "unpaid leave" to compensate for the budget shortfall.

Atlanta City Council resolution 20-R-4068, "Re-imagine Policing in Atlanta" is currently being considered to move funds away from Police and towards social programs.

Somehow, I don't think that providing more money to social programs that continue to disincentivize people from holding a job and earning a living, by providing them with continued low cost, or free housing, food and transportation, is going to fix the problem.

People need to have pride in accomplishments, pride in ownership.   .....and yes, this eventually leads to pride in oneself, pride in one's family and one's nation.  These things go hand-in-hand.  By simply giving people those things, without having to work for them, will only continue to drag them down further.

The Atlanta City Council resolution will be voted on sometime late in the day on Monday, July 6th, 2020.

Atlanta did setup a phone line for public comment.

You can call 404-330-6069 until 12 pm on Monday the 6th of July.

You should call and voice your opinion.  I know I will.
