First off, no I am not a scientist. However, I do know how to research and look stuff up. ....and so can you, if you are willing to spend the time to do it.
Typically, in the past, vaccines have taken 5 to 10 years from start to actual use on humans.
What is a Vaccine?
A vaccine is genetically engineered substance that mimics the virus after it enters a human body. A vaccine is basically a weaker version of the virus and it doesn’t cause any harm to the body but only imitates a virus.
What is the purpose of Vaccine?
Most people assume that vaccines kill the virus, which is not at all the purpose of a vaccine. Vaccines prevent a disease, the do not cure it. That’s why vaccines are given to healthy humans only and not anyone that already has or has had the virus. The purpose of a vaccine is to let our Immune System become ready to fight the virus if we are exposed to it. After the vaccine enters our bodies the immune system recognizes the vaccine's virus behavior and then prepare antibodies to attack it. At this point, our bodies are producing antibodies for the particular virus they were designed for. When the actual virus does attack, we already have antibodies ready to attack the virus.
Phases of a vaccine trial.
Pre-Clinical (Animal - 1 to 6 months, often longer)
After the virus genome is understood, a vaccine is prepared by the scientists. The first experiment of vaccine is done on Mice and then Monkeys. These animals are genetically closer to humans and so vaccine efficiency can be determined at this stage. Only on half of the animals are given the vaccine and then all the animals are exposed to the virus and the researchers determine if the vaccine is working on these animals. This stage usually takes around a month.
Clinical Trials (Human 5 to 15 years)
This is the most time-consuming process in vaccine development.
It takes years and sometimes perhaps even 15 years. This is because the process is all about safety and efficacy of the vaccine in humans.
Phase 0
A small number of volunteers are given a particular dosage to see if it’s safe in humans. If no side effects are recorded, then the trial progresses to the next phase. If there are side effects of concern, then the whole process of pre-clinical is re-done with changes and testing on animals resumes.
Phase 1
20 to 100 volunteers are administered the vaccine to determine safety under assumption the that it is working. Keep in mind, the scientists and researchers, at this point, need the virus to continue to spread, as they have to determine that the vaccine is working in human trials.
Phase 2
A much larger number of volunteers from different regions. In other words, from all over the country, or even the world.
Phase 3
Usually a 1000 or more volunteers are administered in this phase. Randomization and Double-Blind studies are followed during this phase.
Randomization: Some volunteers receive the actual vaccine and others receive a placebo.
Double Blind: Both the researchers and volunteers do not know who is given the vaccine and who is given the placebo. This eliminates bias in interpreting the results.
At this point the researchers have to submit the data on vaccine, research and trials to FDA.
Imagine a room full of papers to be studied and approved. This again takes years.
Once the FDA approves the vaccine the human trials move to Phase 4.
Phase 4
This phase, usually after the vaccine is approved by FDA, involves a much larger group of volunteers and is usually aimed at finding long term effects of the virus.
Every phase the volunteers are observed in periods of 2 weeks to a month. Calculating the effects on these large number of volunteers and collecting data the date, takes years.
Of course, during these phases, the virus needs to continue to be a threat. Often, during these vaccine trials, the virus that is being targeted, naturally disappears. When this occurs, the vaccine being tested is shelved as without an actual virus in the wild, the vaccine is not needed.
At this point, you can understand why it would take so many years to create a viable vaccine.
However, If the disease is spreading fast, such as Covid-19 during an epidemic or a pandemic, the time taken for the human trials can be reduced by the FDA. That being said, we are talking about shaving a few years off of 10 or 15 years, but not down to 18 months or less, as is occuring with Covid-19 trials today.
During the last 20 years, some vaccines only took around 5 years to be ready for use on the population at large. But they were few and far in-between.
Now, scientists are saying that COVID-19 it is expected to only take less than 18 months (with some already in human testing after only 5 months) from start to finish.
It seems, so they say, that many of the scientists have already been working on the group of corona virus (SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV) for decades and supposedly are better equipped to create a vaccine faster.
Don't kid yourself. They have never, in the history of vaccines, dropped all of the safety protocols in producing these vaccines. Even for killers such as Ebola, Swine Flu, H1N1 and others. Even for the common Flu which has killed millions over the years, there is no viable vaccine today.
In recent news, many media outlets have said, "New Covid-19 vaccine testing underway in humans. Early results look promising."
What they don't tell you, is that 50% of volunteers during the first round of testing had serious side effects, while 100% of volunteers during the 2nd round of testing had serious side effects.
Do you really want to take this vaccine, or any that come out in the next 6 to 12 months?
Ask yourself these questions.
What are they really up to?
Why have they thrown out all safety protocols in testing? Going from 5 to 15 years down to mere months in testing?
Who stands to profit from a vaccine? Did you know that Dr. Fauci stands to profit tens, maybe even hundreds of millions of dollars? You know, the government guy on TV? How does that work?
Do you really think this vaccine is about Covid-19, or are they planning to put something else in our bodies?
Did you know, that these vaccines are using RNA, or recombinent DNA sequences to product? Did you know, that these RNA sequences can be patented, and anywhere they end up, that organism is now owned by the pharma that produced it?
Just ask farmers who had Monsanto seeds, blown by the wind, from an adjacent farm onto their farm. Monsanto then, under a federal court order, sues and then seizes the farm from the farmer claiming that the crops belonged to them, as the farmer was using their patented seeds. Don't believe me? Look it up.
What happens when Bill Gates's pharma owns the patent to the vaccine in your body, and now your cells are no longer your property?
