Open letter to Governor Kemp of Georgia.

Dear Governor Kemp,

As any intelligent person can see, the political climate today has taken a turn for the worse.

ANTIFA and BLM have declared open war against all that is good, right and just.

They are now executing police officers and conservatives in broad daylight, torching businesses and homes, and in some cases, entire cities.

On top of that, they are now even attempting to burn down entire states such as California, Oregon and Washington, where millions of acres have already burned, with supporting evidence that many of those fires were intentionally set.

What are law abiding citizen in Georgia to do, to defend themselves against such actions, should they come here?  Actually, we’ve already seen some of these actions right here in Atlanta, where innocent children and others are shot and killed by thugs roaming the streets unchallenged, even by police.

Our Police force, that is already being attacked to the point that many officers are taking early retirement or quitting to move elsewhere, will not stand a chance against these rioters, looters and murderers.

The safety of Georgia’s citizens is now at risk as we move towards the upcoming election and beyond.

The liberal left, including candidates Biden and Harris have openly proclaimed, unless you vote for them, the violence will not only continue, but increase.  Yes, both have said this on record, as has former First Lady Michelle Obama.

Criminals do not follow the law.  Criminals openly flaunt the law.  They carry concealed weapons whether or not they have a carry permit, and to be clear, most do not and many are not legally allowed to own or carry weapons at all in the first place.  Yet they still do with impunity.

I, like many Georgians, am a gun owner, but do not have a concealed carry permit as required by Georgia law.  I can carry my weapons in my home, on my property, in my car and at a business I own.  But nowhere else.

I recently went to apply for a permit, as did my wife, only to find that there is a 3 to 4 months waiting list just to submit your application.  Then, there is the additional 30 to 60 days for a background check to be completed, all the while criminals continue to carry concealed weapons and threaten our safety and lives.

Governor, my request is simple.

Please consider issuing, a temporary executive order to allow constitutional carry for law abiding citizens during this time period, until such a time that the legislature can vote on a permanent provision, or this crisis is averted.

Other states that are constitutional carry states, have supporting evidence that allowing for the free and concealed carry of weapons by law abiding citizen without a permit, has but one effect, a dramatic drop in crime.

Criminals stand down when they know their prey is armed.

Governor, I implore you to take action now.  Give Georgia citizens the right to protect themselves wherever they are and wherever they go within the state.

Allow us to carry and protect ourselves as the 2nd amendment of our constitution provides.

“A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

This provision was not written to give citizens the right to bear arms, but to keep the government from infringing on, or taking that right away.

Yet here we are today with requirements for permits, magazine capacity, type of gun, and the list of infringements go on and on.

The right to bear arms and to defend ourselves, against all enemies, foreign and domestic starts with the phrase, “…unalienable rights…”

As our forefathers and founders of this great nation laid the foundation of our rights, they cast these words into a document, that until today, had withstood the test of time and change.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

The 2nd amendment expands on this by adding that the defense of oneself and the defense of our nation should never be infringed upon.

Yet here we are.

Governor Kemp, please do not consider this request lightly.  We need a strong governor now more than ever.  We need a governor that holds the safety and well being of all of the citizen in his care at the top of his list.

We need constitutional carry in this state now more than ever.

I, as many, firmly believe that there is anarchy and mayhem on the horizon and that we need to level the playing field to ensure that we can continue to exercise our rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
