Went Food Shopping Today - 1st Time Since March - Highly Depressing

We have been using InstaCart (where they deliver your food items to you) and ordering online (Amazon, Walmart, Sams Club) since March.

Today, we decided to venture forth to our local Publix supermarket and do our own shopping.  We practiced social distancing and wore our masks.

Most of the prior free standing marketing displays were missing, aisles were one-way only, many shelves were empty.  Everything was placed ten feet apart.  It made the store look larger than I had remembered it.  Some elevator music was playing and there were hardly any people there.  Those that were, pretty much all had masks on like us.  All of the local employees had masks on as well.

It felt like when you shop at Walmart at 3 am on a random Monday morning.  It was quiet, eerie and depressing.   At one point, I stopped in the middle of an aisle and just froze.  I felt like I was in one of those never ending dreams where you're stuck in some store and can't get out.

I don't get emotional often, but I almost had a moment there.

Is this the new normal for us now?  Masks, restricted shopping days and hours, limited quantities and just that damn depressing eerie feeling that something isn't right.

I can really say today, I hate to go food shopping now.
